Pacte is one of the leading research centers in France. It aims at joining a European network of excellence in the field of public policies, science of government, political sociology, territorial science, social development and urban planning.

Pacte counts around 122 researchers and lecturer-researchers, 26 technical and administrative assistants, as well as 173 Ph D students.

Pacte, as a research unit, is affiliated to the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Institute for Political Studies in Grenoble, Joseph Fourier University, Pierre Mendès France University; it is also linked to the National Foundation for Political Science.

Pacte is also part of the doctoral school on Humanities, political and territorial sciences.
